Hummingbird 2
Sumi-e Hummingbird
In two brushstrokes, on two breaths—present, fully.
Symbolism of the hummingbird
The hummingbird symbolizes perseverance, agility, and staying in the moment.
Sumi-e
is a traditional Japanese art form in which the essence is captured with the fewest brushstrokes possible.
Every brush movement is visible and counts; you can’t paint mistakes over.
Sumi-e is rooted in Zen: the painting emerges in one flowing, mindful movement, supported by your breath.
Not perfect exactness, but the energy of what you paint.
