Hummingbird 3
Kolibrie in sumi-e
In two brushstrokes, on two breaths.
Symbolism of the hummingbird
The hummingbird symbolizes perseverance, flexibility, and the ability to stay in the moment.
Sumi-e
is a traditional Japanese art form where the essence of the subject is captured with as few brushstrokes as possible.
Every movement of the brush is visible and it matters. Mistakes can’t be painted over.
Sumi-e is connected to Zen: the artwork comes into being in one flowing, mindful movement, supported by yourbreathing.
It’s not about perfect precision, but about the energy of what you paint.
